I spent a couple of hours lazying about in the sun today listening to my iPod while the kids I was babysitting were swimming. My eyes practically closed themselves. I wanted to touch the sky.

When I took them home, they were playing Wii, and I could smell the sun on me. I was the most calm I've been in a long time, and I dozed off a few times, the sun's sweet aroma willing me to sleep.

Sometimes simple things make life beautiful. I think I should really slow down sometimes and pay attention to the world we live in.

If you could be a teenager living in any decade, which one would you choose?

Let me start by saying, if I could change what decade I live in, I wouldn't. I love my technology and lifestyle too much.

But if I had to, I would most likely choose sometime in the 50's. (And this may be affected by the fact that I saw Grease last night, but nevermind that.) I think it would be incredible to be a teen during the birth of rock n' roll, and what seems like to me, the sort of awakening era of teenage independence. Though I think I'd want to change my gender, because being a tomboy back then was like, a big no-no from what I've observed. A few days in the 80's might be interesting too, because there are a lot of things I love about them as well.

I'm seeing RENT tomorrow at the Detroit Opera House! Yay!

This will be the second time I've seen it live, but Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp are in it this time, so that makes it like 100x better than the first time I saw it. I can guarantee you I will cry little emo tears. xDD

I do not like this new fad you've adapted where when I pull up to your drive thru, a recorded voice asks me if I would like to try such and such latte, etc. My immediate reaction is to say "No thanks" or something of the sort and then follow with my order. But I can see through your tricks. I know that the voice that tells me my total will be a different one.

Why do you do this to me? I already hate ordering in drive thrus. Most of the time, I will go out of my way to avoid it. And now you give me another reason to avoid them? If I don't know exactly what to say when I am ordering something, I get really anxious. See exhibit A where I asked the guy at Subway for a 12 foot long sub. I meant 12" or footlong. But no.

Random rant over.

In other news, I uploaded the first chapter of my original story on deviantART today: Los Angeles

Check it out if you want.

If you've come upon this entry by way of a link, and aren't sure how to contact me, here are your best options. If you have a LJ, you can reply to this entry. I check my LJ daily. If you don't have a LJ account, but you clicked a link on a forum to get here, PM me on whatever forum it was (Youmacon, DoA). I check those sites daily as well. I don't check my E-mail often enough for that to be reliable and rarely go on AIM or MSN anymore, so the two suggestions above are your best bets. Thanks for looking!

I am listening to copious amounts of Korean hip-hop today. And I think I've found something new to love. xD Particularly 1TYM, SHINee, and Big Bang.

Gotta study up on this stuff for when I get Tae-Jun since it's his favorite kind of music. ^^

That, and it's making my day better since a bunch of little things just ticked me off today. Tell me if this seems rude and uncalled for to you: I got up from my machine in sewing to get some help from the teacher and while I was at the front of the room pinning something, this freshman girl (who has annoyed me from day one due to her lack of a work ethic and just bitchiness in general) goes and sits at my machine and starts sewing with my thread! WTF! I was about ready to deck her.

Anyway, I am hormonal and need to not take anything seriously for the next week or two.

Call it gym, P.E., recess, or pure hell, most people have participated in a class at school that focused on games and athletics. What sport or game did you hate the most when you were a kid? What sport or game was your favorite?

View 502 Answers

I'm going to reverse the order here and start with my favorite. In elementary school, we would play a game in gym called "Knock Down the Pins, Steal the Cones" (my teacher was really original, right?). Basically, each side had about 6 bowling pins and 4 little traffic cones set up at the end of the gym. The point was to throw like volleyballs and whatnot to knock over the pins, and run to the other side and steal the other team's cones without getting tagged. If you got tagged, you had to take like, a 30 second time out. Whichever team got all their pins knocked down first lost, I believe. It was a really fast paced game and I would get REALLY into it. It was the only part of gym I ever liked. I remember one time yelling CRAP! really loud when I got tagged and my teacher getting mad at me for it. xD We also got to play DDR on free days in gym in like, 10th grade and that was cool too.

Let's see...my least favorite part. Anything that involved running for long periods. I've got sports induced asthma, so running and I don't exactly get along well. I would do that kind of fake run where you scuff your feet along and move just enough so it LOOKS like you're running, but you're moreso just jogging a bit. Hey, it got me through high school gym with an A so whatever. I know we also had to do these things called devils or something (maybe because my school mascot is a devil, I'm not sure) where you would run to the half court line, then back, then run all the way to the other end of the court, then back again, etc. etc. and it was really taxing on my weak little body. xD

I guess gym was never PURE HELL for me. It was never my favorite thing either, but I put up with it. The most annoying part in my opinion was getting all sweaty in the middle of the day and then having to go to another class right after that. That really bugged me. A shower would have felt great, but it's not like we had time to take them, and the showers were disgusting anyway. Guys are lucky that they don't have to worry about the same stuff girls too because I guess a lot of guys actually managed to take showers after gym in high school. : /

I also played tennis in Freshman year, and don't get me wrong, I actually like tennis a lot, and I'm decent at it (but sometimes too lazy to get the ball when I could) but I HATED it as a team sport. I bitched to my coach after my first (and only) game of doubles and thankfully never had to play doubles again. I don't want to have to depend on someone else, or for someone else to fuck me up, so that's why I like singles tennis, because it's an individual game. But then when you add the team aspect...I just hate team or group things period really. There's always someone who's not pulling their weight. Also, there were two JV teams, and I got put on JV B with a bunch of people who had never even played tennis before which irritated me to all hell because I had been taking lessons for a few years and my coach knew me ahead of time and knew I was a decent player. It was just a bad experience overall, and thanks to that bad experience, I haven't picked up a racket since then. Thanks a lot coach!

Just a recap of some recent events.

Last weekend I was up north. It was mildly entertaining. We went into Traverse City on Saturday, so that was pretty cool. The weather was lovely and the colors were gorgeous. I found this awesome store that sold costumes and gags and stuff like Halloween USA, but then had a counter in the back that sold retro gaming stuff. Pong, Atari, NES, Sega...you name it, they had it. I could have stayed there forever! I ended up just buying the strategy guide for Ocarina of Time because I haven't yet completed that game to this day. Oh and I got to go to one of my favorite places on the drive up there - Uncle John's Cider Mill! It's seriously the best apple orchard in the world. I got apples and cheese curds and an apple cider slush which is one of the best things in the world and I wish they had them other places!

This weekend I went to visit Grand Valley State University. I was pretty unimpressed. I'll finish my application and send it in, but if I get accepted into Central, Western or both, then I won't even consider GVSU. I guess a lot of the students go home on the weekends, so it looked pretty dead and boring around there. Ehh. On the upside, we stopped at the outlet mall in Howell on the way home and the Pac Sun outlet was trying to get rid of all their shoes for $20 a pair, so I got some sweet Circas and a shirt for like, $35. Mad cheap for Pac Sun.

Next weekend thank god I get to stay home. I am sick of spending hours on end in a car!

But the weekend after that...IS YOUMACON!! I'm so excited. Kelsey flies in on the 30th and we go straight to the Hyatt from the airport. : D Zack's getting dropped off on Friday after school, and this will be his first con. I hope there aren't too many furries around him! xD Hit me up if you wanna hang out with me at the con! Even though the guest list blows and such, it should still be a good time, especially with the new location.

I finally found a torrent of the Nick and Norah soundtrack. fksdgdfhgj indie kid music. Oh, and Saints Row 2 is AWESOME. Get it and play with me online!!

Why I never go see movies at AMC Taylor.

Let's make a list, shall we?
- The tickets were $9.50 each.
- The people in front of us at the concession stand ordered pretty much one of everything and we had to wait for like 6 minutes to get served.
- The ticket seller guy accidentally threw my entertainment card off the counter.
- It was super cold.
- The speakers were fucked up and full of static and shit and it hurt my ears a lot.

But on the upside, the chairs are at the perfect height to be footrests, and since the theater was pretty empty, we were free to step all over them. : ) Oh, and there was a Quantum of Solace trailer which made me flail with delight. Though it still said November 7th instead of whatever homotastic date they moved it back to (sometime later in November).

So yeah, I just got back from seeing The Dark Knight for the 3rd time. I think this shall be the last time I see it in theaters. It's getting be like Pirates 2 (which I also saw 3 times) where it's just not as entertaining anymore, and I ruined that movie for myself by seeing it too many times (speaking of Pirates, my mom is watching the 3rd one on TV right now). But anyway, amazing movie and if you haven't seen it yet, you're INSANE! Do it. NOW.

I'm insanely tired (actually almost fell asleep towards the end of the movie), so I'm probably gonna turn in fairly early tonight. This first week back has been quite stressful and hard to get used to. Graphics is hellishly boring so far (my teacher talked about the features of his iPhone for at least 45 minutes today - newsflash NO ONE CARES). Because I have second lunch, I end up missing about 25 minutes of 4th hour because of the stupid bus hub shit. I talked to Mr. Flint today and get this: he's letting some kids drive to afternoon voc because otherwise they'd have to leave 3rd hour 25 minutes early. But he seemed really apprehensive to let me drive, he said something like "You're not supposed to drive." Okay, well my situation is EXACTLY THE SAME as the one he described to me, only I'm missing the beginning of my class instead of the end. And 4th hour is AP English, so it's the only class I really need to focus and be there for. The world works in stupid ways sometimes...

Anyway...that's all that's new in the world of Carrie. Babysitting tomorrow night so the parents can go see Dark Knight at the IMAX. Oh, irony.

2.5-3 hours getting their custom mood theme to work yesterday? Yes, that's correct, I did. ><

It was worth it though, even though a couple of the images are STILL mixed up. But Aaron Eckhart is just so lovely that I felt it a necessity..and I'm too lazy to fix the few things that are wrong, since I already had to do it 4 times I believe.

The theme was made by halfdutch and can be found here for anyone who actually reads my LJ and by some miracle might be interested. But either way, credit where it's due!

I'm currently busy (HA!) being an intern. Only three days left of this...my how the summer has flown by. Though I've fairly bored out of my mind at home most of the time, I really don't want to go back to school. There's so much stuff that has to be done this year and I'm just not ready to do it.

If you're wondering what the HA! was about...well just think about this...should I have time to be posting on LJ? ; o

I downloaded the new Lil' Wayne album yesterday. And I burned it to a CD. And I listened to it in my car.

Why am I suddenly listening to rap/hip-hop? Why is my radio always on 95.5 now instead of 89x? I DON'T KNOW! I think for the most part I attribute it to my addiction to loud bass. Rock just doesn't have the kind that shakes your car. Techno has it, but it's fast, constant bass. There's something about rap basslines that I am just fascinated with.

On the CD I wrote "Lil' Wayne (I still can't believe I burned this)" And I really can't. But I'm gonna be honest - I liked most of it. ><

I really need a subwoofer for my car now...

Yep, I reserved Saints Row 2 today!! October 14th, oh hell yes. : D It's like $60 though...I guess I need to save up now and put the money aside so I have it when the game comes out.

Today was just a good day in general. I got some new shoes that are hella comfortable, a couple pairs of shorts, 3 more mangas (which brings my total of manga that I haven't read yet to...10...wow), and a huge Pepsi which means I'll be up all night. >< Oh yeah, and I think I got a blister on my foot.

But I actually kind of enjoyed shopping today. WHOAH.
